How to install software Linux

Linux

Maybe you have switched from Linux to different operating systems or are thinking of switching to Linux - in that case, if you are a new user, you definitely have a question you can worry about, "What software is available for Linux and how can they be installed?" Yes, If a few years ago said that installing software on Linux was really a matter of trouble, of which I used to be afraid to use a lot of Linux postal order.

But now the time has changed, and today, many people are worried about installing Linux software, but I'm sure the software installed on Linux is easier than Windows computers. However, if you use Ubuntu or Ubuntu-based domain, then the working software is available in pre-installed mode, even after it is necessary to install a separate software, you can learn all the software installation methods from this article.

In some ways, to install software on Linux, there are some issues before exploring the tutorial directly, that you need to know about a Linux user or a new Linux user! The first paragraph I described them first!

Package Manager

New Linux users are heavier than this, although Kam (work) is understood from its name. Package means that the software program is meant and the manager knows the meaning! It can say a subset of Linux Distributions, which keeps track of all the software installed on your computer, determines which software will be installed in a location, install a list of installed software, updates the installed software to the system easily. The application can be taken.

Now the big Confusion issue is created here, in Linux, there are many package managers but only one manager can be used in a distro. That is, different package managers are used in different districts. For example, Debian and Ubuntu utilize apt package managers; Uses Red Hat, Santos, and Fedora Yum; SUSE and openSUSE use the zipper, And Arch Linux Pacman package manager is used.

Each package manager uses different file type, file type, here I mean the installer file extension. For example, apt works with the package manager (.deb) file and works with yum and zipper (.rpm) files. The apt package manager cannot install the .rpm file type, on the other hand, .deb files do not work in yum and zipper. Ubuntu uses the dpkg command to install local .deb files, but using the Red Hat rpm command on the other, installs the .rpm file.

It is understandable that it is a matter of fairly confusing head! But there is nothing to worry about because most Linux distributions currently have package managers with graphical user interfaces. Such as GNOME Software, Ubuntu Software, Elementary AppCenter etc. You can call them the simplest language app store. If you need any software you need to open the App Store by searching the software name and then click on the install button and install it easily and you can start using it, there is no separate problem here.

But yes, all software may not be available from your database's App Store, you will have to download the manual and install it or you may need to use the command line. All you need to do is look at Google, your database supports any file format software packages. Still, the remaining steps will be available from this article.

Download Software Install

There is a lot of convenience in the App Store on the computer, it can be easily found in any app and it can be installed in Zero problems. But those who are Windows users, especially they are more accustomed to download and install software. But in Linux, it can be a little tricky. In many Linux Districts, you will have the ability to install software that is easier or easier than Windows, but there are many distributions on which the software needs to be installed using the command. But the use of the command is not so difficult.

First, you need to know by Google that your database supports a package. Then you have to download that file. To explain here, Google Chrome is installed in Ubuntu. First, you have to go to Google Chrome official website and you need to download .deb file for Ubuntu. Here is the advantage that many websites will automatically detect your Linux domain and download the setup file accordingly.

While downloading the software, you will see two options, first called "open with software installer" and the second will be asked to save as a normal file. If you have a software installer option in your desktop, then the package may be as easy to install as the water, but all the distortions do not have this function. In that case, you have to download the file manually and then install it using the command line.

Let's first, use the first option and install the software. If the first option is selected by default, Ubuntu Software Installer will open and provide you with the next options to install the software. By clicking on the install option you will need to provide a root password and the software will start to install automatically. Then you can easily find Google Chrome from the Software menu and start using it.

Now your destination may not contain a graphical installer, in that case, the software is normally saved on the hard drive and now you have to install the software using the command line. As already mentioned, installing using the command line is not a difficult task. Just follow the steps below!

  • Click on square dots in the bottom of the desktop (in case of Ubuntu)
  • If the dash is open, please type the terminal!
  • To display the download directory, enter the cd ~ / Downloads command in the terminal
  • Now use this command line to install chrome sudo dpkg -I google-chrome * .deb
  • Now you have to enter the root password, and wait until the install process is over!
  • Once Chrome is installed, open the dash and start using it normally.

Install the software from GUI

If you have a GUI to install software on your desktop, then this process can be much easier. To install any software from here you just have to open the GUI tool, that means you have to open the App Store, then search the app that you want to install from the search box and click on the install button in general, the software will start installing. If you want a root password to enter it, the diameter is done.

You can also install software in Linux using other methods, such as using third-party repositories, unpacking binary archives, compiling from source, or installing Windows software if you want to. I did not write these different methods in this article, but you can comment below if you want more detail about these articles.

So you can understand that installing software in Linux is not a problem at all as much as you thought. Most of the software will be available from the App Store, but yes many times you may need to download the software using the command line. But installing software from the command line is not absolutely rocket science.
